Hunger deaths continues in Gaza; Israeli strikes kill 130 over weekend
Famine-linked deaths climb past 425 as Israeli bombardments devastate Gaza, leaving nearly 65,000 dead since October 2023
GAZA, Palestine (MNTV) — Hunger and bombardment are now killing Palestinians in tandem. Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza said Monday that three more people died of starvation in the past 24 hours, raising the famine-linked toll to 425 since October 2023.
At least 134 of the dead were children.
The UN-backed Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) has already confirmed famine in northern Gaza and warned that it could spread further under Israel’s blockade.
Palestinian officials say starvation deaths are mounting daily as families face impossible choices: risk gunfire while queuing for food, or go hungry.
The humanitarian disaster unfolded alongside one of the bloodiest weekends of the war.
At least 130 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks on Saturday and Sunday, with Gaza City suffering the heaviest losses. Entire families were buried under rubble as 16 buildings were destroyed and dozens of homes flattened.
By dawn Monday, the toll deepened further. Hospitals reported 37 more people killed, among them six-year-old twins, a journalist, women, and children seeking refuge in makeshift tents. Medical teams said at least 346 people were injured in just two days.
Airstrikes and shelling struck homes, tents for displaced families, and even aid lines. Five Palestinians were shot dead while waiting for food near Khan Younis.
Another three were killed and 47 wounded in the past 24 hours while trying to secure humanitarian supplies. The Health Ministry says that since May 27, at least 2,497 Palestinians have been killed and more than 18,000 injured while attempting to access aid.
In Gaza City, Israeli strikes destroyed the high-rise al-Ghafri Tower after ordering residents to flee. Attacks also killed nine people, including three children, in a tent shelter in the al-Rimal neighborhood. In the al-Nasr neighborhood, airstrikes killed a journalist and another civilian when a tent on a rooftop was bombed.
The devastation stretched across the Strip. In Khan Younis, a disabled woman and a married couple were among those killed by Israeli fire. In central Gaza, gunfire killed at least one civilian in el-Muhraqa. Medical sources said that women, children, and disabled civilians were repeatedly among the victims.
The Health Ministry says that since October 2023, at least 64,871 Palestinians have been killed and more than 164,000 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza. Officials warn the real figures are likely higher, as thousands remain missing under rubble.
Israel, meanwhile, has reported that 20,000 soldiers and officers have been wounded since October 2023. Its Rehabilitation Division says nearly 100 soldiers have undergone amputations, 16 are paralyzed, and 31,000 are under mental health monitoring.
Doctors and aid workers in Gaza warn that famine, bombing, and medical collapse are converging into an unprecedented catastrophe. “There is no safe place left,” one medic was quoted by Anadolu.
