Has Western Hypocrisy Reached Its Peak? Or Is There More To Come?
Since 2026 dawned, the GTA has seen a spate of large-scale protests across the region. Protests to ‘fight for’ the defenceless people in Iran who are at ‘risk of being killed’. Perfectly legit, one would say. And we would agree. How can any government, political party, or militia be allowed to stop people from protesting for their universally accepted civil rights?
How can this be allowed to happen in 2026, in a world where people across the board want a better life for themselves and their future generations, not war? Where every global leader wins on an election manifesto of peace? Where even a Trump, the man who is slowly setting fire to the entire world, still chooses to talk about “stopping 8 wars“, not starting new ones. Where people still shudder when they watch a Hollywood movie on the Jews being incinerated by the Nazis in Germany, and walk out of the theatre muttering under their breath – ‘never again‘?
The resounding answer is a firm and unequivocal NO! No state or non-state entity should be permitted to stifle dissent, particularly against those fighting for their rights in their own homeland.
As a media organization, we champion those freedoms as well. However, we face a dilemma: why is this support and liberty granted to some but not others? Why are popular movements against regimes associated with Islam and Muslims deemed fair and necessary, yet when individuals rise against oppressors who happen to be Zionists or allies of the US and UK, they are immediately blamed, labeled as fair game for violence, not just in dozens but in the thousands?
The so-called protests in the GTA by “Iranians” and the reaction from mainstream Canadian media are perplexing. Suddenly, these news outlets have found their voices and courage simultaneously. Op-eds, news articles, and video segments expressing concern for lost freedoms in faraway Iran are dominating headlines. Random “Iranian protesters” seem to appear from nowhere across Ontario, each with a compelling story. Before delving into the more significant question of why coverage disparity exists between Gaza/Palestine and Iran, we should ask this seemingly talented and professional cohort of “journalists” on Canadian news platforms: Who are these protesters? What are their antecedents? Did you conduct the same in-depth investigation into them as you did with the thousands killed in Gaza? For example, did you try and pushback on the Israeli narrative that the Gaza father who lost his life, along with his two young children, at the hands of an Israeli sniper, was not a civilian but ‘a distant cousin of a rumored Hamas fighter?’
Returning to Iran, it is remarkable that if the Canadian media had indeed tried to dig up the truth, it would have been supremely easy. Because just when they were checking with their corporate masters on what to report and when, Israeli news outlets had already beaten them to it.
Consider a Haaretz report from October 3, 2025, which strangely never made it to local television or newspapers in Canada.
The Haaretz headline reads:
“The Israeli Influence Operation Aiming to Install Reza Pahlavi as Shah of Iran!”
The article states that “in early 2023, Reza Pahlavi made his first official visit to Israel.” Events that followed indicate that shortly after this visit, Israel’s campaign to destabilize the Iranian regime intensified. The report details Israel’s propaganda efforts to incite unrest in Iran, paving the way for Pahlavi’s son, emphasizing that: “it relies on ‘fake avatars’ on social media posing as Iranian citizens.”
Another revealing report by Haaretz, in collaboration with the Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto, is titled “A Web of Lies and Deception.” It notes that “a coordinated online network has relied on fake Persian-language accounts on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram to promote Reza… This network, funded by a private entity with government backing in Israel, utilized AI-generated content, including ‘deepfake’ videos, to manipulate narratives. Citizen Lab focused on digital threats like misinformation and provided compelling evidence that this network operated in sync with Israeli military actions, such as the airstrike on Evin Prison in June 2023. These accounts posted about an ‘explosion at the prison’ EVEN before official news emerged. Subsequent revelations confirmed that this content was fabricated, and the precise timing suggests that the network’s operators had advance knowledge of Israel’s military plans. Citizen Lab concluded that the Israeli government or its contractors likely orchestrated the campaign.”
Before concluding this discussion, we want to raise some questions that many around the world—especially those who are logical and rational—might wish the self-appointed global police, the United States, to answer:
– How is it that students at Columbia University can face deportation and professors can lose their jobs under Trump for protesting, while Iranian protesters receive immediate protection and even threats of bombing Iran from the same administration?
– Why is it that every time Israel and Iran clash on the global stage, a street protest erupts in Iran?
– Why do the so-called “freedom-loving, ex-Muslim” Iranian women—who seem desperate to swap their hijabs and their country for the beaches of Florida—only take to the streets when Israel has issues with Iran? Why is the hijab acceptable during other months? And if they desire to leave Iran so badly, why do they remain there when there’s no chance of a war with Israel?
– Do the simultaneous explosions of hundreds of devices in Iran and Lebanon relate to Israel’s deep infiltration into the Iranian government? Why can’t street protests be initiated through the same channels?
– Who assists Israel in killing top Iranian nuclear scientists with such precision over and over?
– How well-entrenched are Israeli informants within Iran? What more can they do for Israel besides reporting where an Iranian general dines on a given night? Could they also instigate street protests? After all, it’s well-known that US sanctions have severely impacted the everyday lives of Iranians. How difficult would it be for someone to kill a few protesters for a substantial financial reward and American citizenship for themselves and their family? Isn’t that what the US has done in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Kuwait, Somalia, and Sudan?
Finally, a reminder to the Muslim world, which seems to be pretending to stay uninvolved in defending its “brothers”, which is a central principle of their faith, no less. Remember this?
“First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.” — Martin Niemöller.
To put it simply: Today, it could be just one of you. Tomorrow, it could, or rather it will, be you. Remember how you arrived at that point.
