Hamas meets Egyptian intelligence over Israeli ceasefire breaches
Delegation urges mediators to enforce ceasefire as Gaza mourns dozens killed in latest Israeli airstrikes
GAZA CITY, Palestine (MNTV) — A senior Hamas delegation met Egypt’s intelligence chief in Cairo to discuss repeated Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement, the group said, as Palestinians in Gaza held funerals for dozens killed in recent Israeli airstrikes.
Hamas reaffirmed its commitment to the first phase of the ceasefire but said Israel is making “continued violations” that risk undermining the deal.
The delegation, including exiled Gaza chief Khalil al-Hayya, called for a “clear and defined mechanism” under mediator supervision to document and halt ceasefire breaches.
Egypt, Qatar, and the United States have been mediating between Hamas and Israel to maintain the truce, which came into effect last month.
Hamas also raised concerns over fighters trapped in tunnel networks in Rafah within Israeli-controlled areas of Gaza, reporting that communication with them has been severed.
The meeting followed a wave of Israeli airstrikes that killed at least 24 Palestinians, including children, and destroyed homes and shelters.
According to the independent media, Israel has violated the ceasefire at least 497 times since October 10, with 342 civilians killed, most of them women, children, and elderly.
Journalists in Gaza report widespread fear of escalation and destruction of civilian infrastructure. Hamas stressed that it will not disarm while the Israeli occupation persists.
Phase one of the ceasefire involves prisoner exchanges, humanitarian aid delivery, and the opening of the Rafah crossing, while phase two calls for Gaza to be governed under a technocratic Palestinian committee with international oversight.
