Global Sumud Flotilla intercepted by Israeli navy in international waters
Activists onboard Flotilla report that Israel is enforcing illegal blockade, vow to continue aid mission to Gaza amid dangerous circumstances
GAZA CITY, Palestine (MNTV) — The Global Sumud Flotilla, carrying humanitarian aid bound for Gaza, was surrounded by Israeli warships as it attempted to break through the blockade, according to reports by Al Jazeera reports.
Organizers of the flotilla said they had diversified vessels in the hope that some could reach Gaza, but Israeli forces ordered that no aid should be delivered beyond what it allows, through its own channels.
However, Israeli allowed aid is far from enough for the residents in Gaza and Israel has already imposed inhumane blockade on the aid inflow.
Activists rejected the demand, stressing that the blockade is part of what they describe as an Israeli policy of genocide, using famine and starvation as weapons of war, which is confirmed by various independent agencies including the UN.
Israel has declared the naval siege a military order, while flotilla participants insist their mission is humanitarian and legitimate under international law. They argue that Israeli forces have no legal basis to intercept ships traveling in international waters toward Palestinian territorial waters.
Despite the military encirclement, organizers of the Global Sumud Flotilla vowed to continue their journey to Gaza, underscoring their commitment to challenge what they see as an unlawful blockade against the Palestinian people.
