Czech Republic receives complaint against Israeli soldier over Gaza atrocities
The Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) has filed a criminal complaint in the Czech Republic targeting an Israeli soldier it accuses of participating in war crimes
LONDON (MNTV) – The Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) has filed a criminal complaint in the Czech Republic targeting an Israeli soldier it accuses of participating in war crimes and genocide during military operations in the Gaza Strip.
The Brussels-based rights group said Friday it submitted the complaint to the High Public Prosecutor’s Office in Prague against Hagay Monsonego, an Israeli army member.
The filing came after confirmation that Monsonego is currently in Prague, which the foundation says triggers the Czech Republic’s legal responsibilities under both international conventions and national law.
“This filing marks HRF’s third criminal complaint in the Czech Republic related to crimes committed in Gaza,” the group said in a statement.
“With this third filing, HRF is no longer testing legal theory. It is testing state practice.”
The complaint alleges Monsonego committed genocide, war crimes, and persecution of civilians during Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.
The latest filing draws on an HRF investigative report that documented Monsonego’s service in Gaza as a member of the Mesayaat Shaked Company, 424th “Shaked” Battalion, Givati Brigade. The report places him within operations linked to some of the gravest alleged crimes during the assault on Gaza.
Jan Taubel, HRF’s legal counsel in the Czech Republic, submitted the complaint, translating the foundation’s evidence into specific allegations under Czech criminal law.
According to HRF’s investigation, Monsonego served in the besieged enclave between December 2023 and November 2025, including during the siege and destruction of the Al-Shifa Medical Complex.
The complaint connects Monsonego and his unit to operations involving an attack on a protected medical facility, the siege of civilians, patients and medical staff, mass detention and mistreatment of Palestinian civilians, and practices including blindfolding, restraint and humiliation during arrest and transfer operations.
The Hind Rajab Foundation is named after a five-year-old Palestinian girl killed by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip.
The organization seeks to challenge what it describes as Israeli impunity for war crimes and human rights violations in Palestine.
Israel has killed more than 71,000 people, mostly women and children, in Gaza since October 2023 and destroyed much of the enclave. A ceasefire took effect in October 2025, though Israeli violations have continued.
