Bangladeshi scientist wins Dean’s Award for groundbreaking research in Japan
Bangladeshi researcher Islam Moutushi has received the Dean’s Award from the Graduate University for Advanced Studies in Japan
HAYAMA, Japan (MNTV) – Bangladeshi researcher Islam Moutushi has received the Dean’s Award from the Graduate University for Advanced Studies (SOKENDAI) in Japan, recognizing her exceptional doctoral research and contributions to life sciences.
Moutushi completed her PhD in September as part of the Molecular Cell Engineering Laboratory at Japan’s National Institute of Genetics (NIG).
Her thesis, “Advancing the utility of AID2-based conditional protein knockdown,” introduces new methods for studying and regulating proteins—work that could have far-reaching implications in genetics and molecular biology.
The Dean’s Award is given to students whose doctoral research demonstrates outstanding originality and academic excellence.
Moutushi also received the Morishima Award from NIG’s Genetics Program for her scientific achievements.
“I am honored and delighted to receive the Dean’s Award from SOKENDAI University,” Moutushi said, expressing gratitude to her supervisor, Professor Masato Kanemaki, for his constant guidance and support.
“National Institute of Genetics was the first place where I truly learned about research,” she added.
“It gave me invaluable opportunities to explore and grow in this field. I’m deeply thankful to my lab members, collaborators, and family for their support throughout this journey.”
Moutushi said the recognition will motivate her to continue pursuing scientific research “with passion and dedication” as she moves forward in her career.
