Bahrain to harness AI for sustainable development in public sector
Workshop spotlights artificial intelligence’s role in advancing efficiency and SDGs
MANAMA, Bahrain (MNTV) — The Ministry of Sustainable Development, in collaboration with Bain & Company and the World Economic Forum, held a key workshop in Manama exploring artificial intelligence (AI) driving sustainable development within Bahrain’s public sector.
The event drew together representatives from over 15 government bodies and involved more than 30 participants to identify practical strategies for embedding AI across national development plans, according to News of Bahrain.
Participants began shaping prototype solutions aligned with Bahrain’s strategic priorities, with the results set to inform a research-based report due in early 2026 that will be showcased on global platforms.
Bain & Company experts highlighted how governments in the Middle East and around the world are leveraging AI, urging that Bahrain build robust local capabilities to keep pace with digital progress.
Key discussions centered on AI’s potential to accelerate progress toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the deployment of scalable, AI-driven technical solutions.
Attendees praised Bahrain’s forward-looking approach to innovation, noting the workshop as an example of structured progress in integrating AI into public services—improving efficiency, speeding up processes, and delivering more value to citizens and residents.
