Amnesty accuses Israel of ‘live-streamed genocide’ as Gaza aid blockade deepens
Human rights group condemns Israeli obstruction of humanitarian access in breach of international law
PALESTINE (MNTV) — Amnesty International has sharply condemned Israel’s renewed blockade of humanitarian aid into Gaza, describing it as part of a broader campaign of “live-streamed genocide” against Palestinians.
The obstruction follows the conclusion of the first phase of a temporary ceasefire and has exacerbated Gaza’s catastrophic humanitarian crisis, already defined by mass displacement, famine, and relentless violence.
In a statement issued from Amnesty International Australia, the human rights organization accused Israel of deliberately engineering a humanitarian catastrophe in violation of international law.
Amnesty said Israel’s actions — including the targeting of critical infrastructure and the systematic denial of food, water, and medical supplies — are being carried out with the intent to destroy Gaza’s population.
The group emphasized that the aid blockade directly violates the International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) provisional measures, which in January 2024 ordered Israel to allow unimpeded humanitarian access.
Amnesty stated that under Article 55 and 59 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, Israel, as an occupying power, is legally obligated to ensure the provision of essential goods to civilians — a responsibility it has systematically ignored.
“Palestinians in Gaza have returned home trying to rebuild and prepare for Ramadan, but without food or medical supplies, survival is at grave risk,” said Mohamed Duar, Amnesty International Australia’s spokesperson.
“This is collective punishment, and the international community must not remain silent.”
In its annual report, Amnesty further accused Israel of forcibly displacing 1.9 million people — nearly 90% of Gaza’s population — and leaving most of the enclave’s inhabitants homeless, malnourished, and without medical care.
It documented numerous war crimes, including indiscriminate strikes and attacks on civilian targets.
Amnesty’s recent report followed the earlier International Criminal Court’s issuance of arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Amnesty reiterated calls for the immediate release of arbitrarily detained individuals and demanded the governments and other international actors press Israel to end its aid blockade and military occupation.
