Algeria to host largest-ever Intra-African Trade Fair in September
IATF 2025 aims to boost continental trade, secure $44bn in deals, and showcase African innovation
ALGIERS, Algeria (MNTV) — Algeria will host the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025) from September 4 to 10, in what is expected to be the event’s most ambitious edition yet, bringing together thousands of businesses, investors, and innovators from across the continent.
Under the theme “A Gateway to New Opportunities”, the fair will take place at the Palais des Expositions in Algiers, organized in partnership with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), the African Union Commission, and the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
More than 2,000 exhibitors from 75 countries and 35,000 professional visitors are expected to attend, with trade and investment agreements projected to exceed $44 billion.
Organizers say the event will serve as a powerful platform for promoting intra-African trade, attracting foreign investment, and accelerating regional economic integration.
The program will span multiple sectors, including agriculture, industry, energy, finance, health, transport, research, innovation, and startups.
Key highlights include the Trade and Investment Forum, the Creative Africa Nexus (CANEX) summit, B2B meetings, an African diaspora day, and the African Auto Show.
Special areas will spotlight young entrepreneurs, university students, and researchers, while themed sessions will allow public and private entities to present opportunities in trade, tourism, culture, and investment.
President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has emphasized Algeria’s commitment to making IATF 2025 the most impactful and internationally visible edition to date.
At an April Council of Ministers meeting, he instructed that all necessary facilities be provided to African partners, underscoring the fair’s role in advancing the African development agenda.
In July, at a promotional event in Algiers, IATF Advisory Council Chair and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo praised Algeria’s preparations.
He credited President Tebboune and the government’s organizational efforts for inspiring confidence in the country’s ability to host the event. He described the fair as a milestone in the continent’s “economic emancipation.”
On Sunday, veteran diplomat Larbi Latrèche was appointed Commissioner for IATF 2025, supported by Abdelkrim Beha and Messaoud Mehila, Algeria’s ambassadors to Jordan and Mexico, respectively.
Organizers say their combined expertise will help ensure the event meets its ambitious goals and cements Algeria’s role as a leading force in African economic cooperation.
