Algeria showcases tourism potential at IATF 2025 to strengthen global appeal
The trade fair in Algiers highlights Saharan attractions and seeks to position Algeria as a leading destination for sustainable tourism
ALGIERS, Algeria (MNTV) — Algeria is using the fourth Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), held at the Algiers Exhibition Centre, to showcase its tourism potential as part of a broader strategy to diversify the national economy and reduce dependence on hydrocarbons.
Officials said the event provides a key platform to highlight Algeria’s attractions to African and international visitors, with tourism being identified as a strategic lever for sustainable development.
Nearly 35,000 visitors and 2,000 exhibitors from across Africa are attending the fair, alongside extensive international media coverage, reported Al24 News.
Abdelhamid Ouari, Director General of the National Tourism Office (ONT), described the turnout as “an ideal opportunity to promote Algeria as a tourist destination par excellence.”
He emphasized that the visibility of Saharan tourism in particular will be central to drawing interest from regional partners and investors.
As part of its new promotion strategy, the ONT has prepared a comprehensive plan to present Algeria’s cultural, historical, and natural attractions to the African market.
The initiative aims to strengthen Algeria’s profile both continentally and globally, supporting the government’s efforts to make tourism a cornerstone of its economic transition.
