Algeria showcases deep-rooted civilization at Expo 2025 in Osaka
Presentation by heritage expert highlights country’s archaeological legacy and cultural richness
OSAKA, Japan (MNTV) – The Algeria Pavilion at Expo 2025 hosted a cultural presentation titled “Algeria, Land of Beginnings” by Slimane Hachi, director of the National Center for Prehistoric, Anthropological and Historical Research (CNRPAH).
Hachi emphasized Algeria’s status as a cradle of civilization, highlighting archaeological discoveries that attest to its ancient human presence, reported Algerian Press Services.
The presentation was part of the Cultural Innovation Week for the Future, and drew attention to Algeria’s status as a cradle of early human history, citing archaeological discoveries and historical research that confirm the ancient presence of humans in the region.
Hachi referenced significant excavation sites across Sétif, Jijel, Béjaïa, Mascara, and the Tassili region, known for its prehistoric rock art, as key examples of Algeria’s archaeological richness.
He also highlighted elements of Algeria’s tangible and intangible heritage, including raï music, traditional couscous, women’s attire, and the intricate art of zellige tilework.
Attendees at the event expressed admiration for Algeria’s cultural diversity and historical significance, underscoring growing international interest in its legacy.
Through its participation in Expo 2025, running from April 13 to October 13, Algeria aims to boost its global visibility and build partnerships across cultural and developmental sectors.
