Algeria launches mobile Quran recitation caravan in Mascara Province
Three-day initiative features renowned reciters, youth performances, and Quranic lectures across local mosques
MASCARA, Algeria (MNTV) — Algeria’s Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments has launched a traveling Quran recitation caravan across Mascara Province, aiming to promote religious heritage and youth engagement through Quranic arts and education.
The three-day event, which began on July 11 at the Imam Muslim Mosque in Mascara city, is held under the theme “The Light of the Quran Guides Us and the Memory of the Free Is Our Commitment.”
It is organized in partnership with the Mascara Provincial Office of Tourism and Handicrafts.
The initiative features ten prominent reciters from across Algeria, including Abdelaziz Sahim, Abdelkarim Belhassen, and Abdelmonem Baroudi.
The caravan is scheduled to stop at various towns, including El Kharroub, Ghriss, and Tighenif, offering Quranic recitation sessions in local mosques.
In addition to the recitations, the program includes religious and cultural activities such as ibtihal (devotional chants) performed by students from regional Quranic schools and zawiyas.
Lectures focusing on Quran memorization methods and the spiritual significance of recitation are also being delivered by mosque leaders.
The initiative will conclude with a special ceremony to recognize the participating reciters and to honor young Quran memorizers between the ages of 9 and 14.
