Aid seekers killed as Israeli strikes pound Gaza; famine deaths rise
At least 41 Palestinians were killed and 132 others wounded in a series of Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip
GAZA, Palestine (MNTV) — At least 41 Palestinians were killed and 132 others wounded in a series of Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip since dawn Monday, as bombardments continue to target both civilian gatherings and areas near aid distribution points.
The Health Ministry in Gaza reported a 24-hour death toll of 94 Palestinians and over 439 wounded — a sharp escalation amid worsening famine and disease.
Palestinian media said at least 29 of the latest fatalities were people seeking humanitarian assistance. Several were killed near aid sites affiliated with the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a U.S.- and Israel-backed entity whose operations have been sharply criticized by rights groups.
Eight were shot dead near a US aid distribution centre close to the Netzarim Corridor in central Gaza.
In Rafah’s Al-Shakoush area, Israeli forces opened fire on another GHF-linked centre, killing multiple civilians. A separate airstrike in Deir al-Balah’s al-Hekir area killed a Palestinian man, his wife and daughter inside their home. In Gaza City’s Shejaiya neighbourhood, two Israeli strikes on gatherings of civilians killed at least seven. Two more died in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza.
In southern Rafah, Israeli gunfire killed two civilians — including a woman — and injured over 20 more as they waited for food aid. Another incident claimed the life of a Palestinian nurse, Uday al-Quraan, when airdropped aid struck him in Deir al-Balah.
Humanitarian agencies warn of a deepening disaster. Only 84 trucks a day have entered Gaza since Israel partially eased its blockade on July 27 — far below the minimum 600 daily trucks needed, according to aid groups. Over 22,000 trucks reportedly remain stalled at Gaza’s border.
Palestinian Health Ministry reported five more famine-related deaths in the last 24 hours, including three children. The death toll from starvation since October has now reached 180, with children accounting for more than half.
Three more people, including two under 15, have died from Guillain-Barré syndrome, which doctors link to severe malnutrition. The ministry warned of a rising number of paralysis cases and pleaded for international action to lift the blockade and deliver life-saving medicines.
Addameer, a Palestinian legal advocacy group, claimed that at least 54 people remain unaccounted for near GHF-controlled aid centres and accused Israeli troops and contractors of carrying out mass killings. Since the GHF began aid operations under US-Israeli oversight, over 1,500 aid-seekers have reportedly been killed, the group said. They also alleged Israeli forces were blocking recovery efforts near those sites.
In another attack, Israeli forces struck the Palestinian Red Crescent headquarters in Khan Younis, killing a humanitarian worker and injuring three others. The strike also sparked a fire that engulfed part of the facility.
Israel’s genocide in Gaza has now killed at least 60,933 Palestinians and wounded more than 150,027, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. Following the collapse of a truce on March 18, Israeli attacks have killed nearly 9,500 more and wounded over 37,000.
The escalating toll underscores what international observers call an unfolding humanitarian catastrophe — with food, medicine, shelter and safety now all out of reach for Gaza’s besieged population.
