Afghan villagers raise funds to build high school
KABUL, Afghanistan (MNTV) — Residents of Shahristan district in central Daikundi province have come together to begin construction of a new high school building, determined to ensure better educational opportunities for their children.
According to Ibrahim Askari, head of Publications at the provincial Education Department, local villagers have raised more than 2 million Afghanis ( $28,000) to build Mamloq High School for boys, Pajhwok Afghan News reports.
At a ceremony to launch the construction, Rahmatullah Qandili, director of the Education Department, praised the community for their dedication and hard work, noting that the local administration would fully support the initiative in line with official guidelines.
“This is a remarkable example of how people are taking their future into their own hands,” Qandili said, commending the effort as a model for other communities.
Residents say that once completed, the new school will offer a safe and proper learning environment, allowing students to pursue their education and build bright futures.
Arif Hossaini, a resident and one of the project’s supporters, said the school will have eight classrooms and four office rooms.
Hossaini also appealed to wealthy individuals and organizations to contribute to the project to ensure its timely completion.
