Abu Dhabi launches smart indoor air quality observatory
New HawAQM system uses real-time sensors and analytics to monitor indoor pollutants and support healthier living environments
ABU DHABI, UAE (MNTV) – The Abu Dhabi Public Health Center (ADPHC) has launched a Smart Indoor Air Quality Observatory, known as HawAQM, to strengthen monitoring of indoor air pollutants across the emirate.
The initiative, one of ADPHC’s flagship strategic projects, utilizes advanced scientific technologies and high-precision sensors to provide real-time data and in-depth analytics on indoor air quality. Its monitoring network covers a wide range of environments, including schools, homes, and other facilities throughout Abu Dhabi.
Officials said the observatory is designed to raise awareness and improve oversight of indoor air conditions, a key factor in protecting public health and well-being. Sophisticated monitoring devices installed at selected sites continuously track major indoor air pollutants, enabling early detection of potential risks.
All collected data is transmitted instantly to the HawAQM digital dashboard, where it is analyzed and visualized for specialists and decision-makers. The platform allows authorities to take prompt, evidence-based corrective actions to ensure safe and healthy indoor spaces.
ADPHC Director General Dr. Rashid Al Suwaidi said the observatory enhances Abu Dhabi’s capacity for smart health risk monitoring and supports future planning through accurate, data-driven insights, reinforcing the emirate’s broader sustainability and quality-of-life objectives.
