UK and Qatar announce AI healthcare funding initiative
New grant program aims to boost bilateral collaboration and advance healthcare innovation through artificial intelligence projects
DOHA, Qatar (MNTV) — The British Embassy in Doha, in partnership with Qatari authorities, has launched a funding program under the Gulf Strategy Fund to support AI-driven healthcare projects, fostering UK–Qatar collaboration in advanced medical research.
The initiative, involving the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the AI Committee of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Council, offers grants ranging from £50,000 to £80,000 (approximately USD 62,000–99,000).
Projects must be completed by June 30, 2026, and demonstrate strong collaboration with relevant partner institutions.
This funding represents Phase II of the UK–Qatar AI Research Commission, shifting from strategic planning to practical implementation with a focus on healthcare applications.
Proposals will be evaluated based on strategic relevance, cost-effectiveness, feasibility, and long-term impact potential.
Interested organizations are encouraged to submit an optional expression of interest by November 21, 2025, with full proposals due by December 5, 2025.
Officials said the program provides an opportunity to strengthen Qatar’s health technology ecosystem while deepening bilateral ties in AI research and innovation.
