37 Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, aid system teeters on collapse
With strikes hitting homes, a kitchen, and a charity, the UN and Red Cross warn of humanitarian catastrophe amid rising Palestinian death toll
GAZA, Palestine (MNTV) — At least 37 Palestinians were killed in a series of Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip on Friday. Medical sources confirmed the fatalities, with some of the dead pulled from the rubble of homes targeted in densely populated areas.
In central Gaza’s Bureij refugee camp, an Israeli strike flattened a residential home, killing nine members of the same family, according to Gaza’s Civil Defence.
Another six were killed in Beit Lahia, in the north, when the Al-Masri family home was bombed.
A separate Israeli strike on Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighborhood killed two more.
A community kitchen in Gaza City was also hit, killing six.
Five people were reported killed in a strike on a charitable foundation near al-Jalaa Street.
In Gaza City, strikes continued with deadly precision. Two people were killed in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood. A separate air raid targeted a community kitchen, killing six civilians. Another strike hit a charitable foundation near al-Jalaa Street, claiming five more lives.
The Israeli military resumed its offensive on March 18, breaking a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that had held since January 19. The escalation reignited fears of mass casualties, as civilian infrastructure—including homes, shelters, and aid facilities—continues to be struck.
As the bombs fall, international humanitarian groups are warning of a breaking point. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said Friday that the blockade and military operations have brought Gaza’s aid system to the “verge of total collapse.”
“Without an immediate resumption of aid deliveries, the ICRC will not have access to the food, medicines, and life-saving supplies needed to sustain many of its programmes in Gaza,” the organization warned in a public statement.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) also issued a grave warning. “This is not just a siege. It is collective punishment,” said Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini, marking two months of the tightened blockade.
“It is a siege on children, women, older people, and ordinary men. They are collectively punished for being born and living in Gaza—something not of their making.”
The Red Cross has warned that Gaza’s humanitarian system is on the brink of collapse. It said two months of blocked aid have left it unable to sustain life-saving programmes.
The UN’s Palestine refugee agency, UNRWA, called the continued siege “collective punishment” of innocent civilians. “This is a siege on children, women, and ordinary people,” said UNRWA head Philippe Lazzarini.
Palestinian Health Ministry says at least 52,418 people have been killed and over 118,000 wounded since the war began.
However, the Media Office claims the real death toll has now passed 61,700, including many presumed dead under rubble.
