Norway Marks 10 Years Since a Neo-Nazi Massacre
Church bells rang out across Norway Thursday in commemoration of the massacre that happened 10 years ago On July 22nd, 2011 the right-wing extremist Anders Behring Breivik set out on a killing spree. He set off a bomb outside Norway's Prime Minister's office in Oslo He killed eight there. Then killed 69 at a youth camp. most of them were teenagers. He declared the victims as soft on Islam. Describing himself as a Christian he showed hatred of Muslims. At the age of 20 he joined the anti-immigration/right-wing Progress Party, Before his terrorist attacks he issued a menifesto. He called it the European Declaration of Independence. He sites American Islamophobe Robert Spencer 64 times in his manifesto. Pamela Geller, another Islamophobe from USA features in his manifesto of hate. He repeatedly expresses praise and admiration for Hindu nationalist groups in India. he also states his opposition to feminism along with Islam. Breivik's actions had inspired several violent attacks over the past decade. The terrorist who killed 51 worshipers in the mosques New Zealand's Christchurch also credits him as his inspriation. In 2012, Breivik, who is now 42, was sentenced to 21 years in prison because Norway does not have the death penalty In the court, Breivik rose his right hand making the Nazi salute His sentence can be extended indefinitely and he will likely spend the rest of his life behind bars
