US airstrikes in Sana’a leave 12 dead, 30 injured, Yemeni media reports
Attacks follow escalation in Yemen, with over 200 casualties reported since March
SANA’A, Yemen (MNTV) — Twelve people were killed and 30 others injured in US airstrikes on Yemen’s capital, Sana’a, Yemeni media reported.
The strikes targeted multiple locations, including the Attan district, controlled by the Houthi group since 2014, and a sanitation project in Asir.
Additional sites hit included the Furwah neighborhood and a bustling market in the Shoub district.
The US Central Command has not commented on the attacks, which are part of a broader military campaign launched against the Houthis in March.
According to Yemeni sources, the offensive has left over 200 dead so far.
In Hodeidah, airstrikes a day earlier hit the port and airport, while a previous attack on Ras Isa port caused at least 80 deaths and over 150 injuries.
The US has justified its actions as a response to what it calls threats to Red Sea shipping, a vital international trade route.
Houthi officials, however, maintain that their actions target vessels linked to Israel, describing them as a show of solidarity with Palestinians amid genocide in Gaza.
The group halted attacks during a recent ceasefire but resumed them after Israeli assaults on Gaza reignited last month.
The Houthis, officially Ansar Allah, have held significant territory in Yemen since 2014, including key ports and oil infrastructure.
Experts say the US-led military escalation exacerbates Yemen’s humanitarian crisis and undermines prospects for peace in the region.
