On Tuesday, the Jan. 6 committee heard emotional testimony illustrating the toll former president Donald Trump’s scheme to overturn the 2020 election, had on public servants and their families.
The hearing revealed Sen. Ron Johnson, a Wisconsin Republican, offered to deliver fake electors to Vice President Mike Pence.
The committee showed text messages between a Johnson staffer and another working for Pence minutes before a joint session of Congress to certify the 2020 election results.
Republican election officials said Trump’s team, led by the former president, made fantastic allegations of voter fraud that were false.
The former president’s team also asked numerous state figures to break the law to keep Trump in power despite his clear defeat, testimony revealed.
