Russia, Iran discuss expanding nuclear cooperation at Moscow meeting
Rosatom and Iranian officials highlight Bushehr project, call partnership a model for peaceful energy collaboration
TEHRAN, Iran (MNTV) — A senior official from Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom met Iran’s ambassador in Moscow on Thursday to discuss expanding scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries’ atomic energy institutions.
Nikolai Spassky, Rosatom’s deputy director general for international relations, held talks with Kazem Jalali at the Iranian Embassy in Moscow on April 30.
The discussions focused on scientific, technical and technological exchanges between Rosatom and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, with particular attention to ongoing joint work at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant in southern Iran.
Both sides described their continued cooperation as a model of effective partnership in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, emphasizing its role in supporting sustainable development, responsible resource management, environmental protection and energy security.
The meeting comes amid longstanding strategic ties between Tehran and Moscow, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to strengthening institutional coordination and advancing joint nuclear projects.
