Pakistan launches largest cloud, AI platform
Sky47 offers "sovereign cloud" infrastructure for enterprises and hyperscalers, with a design that allows for expansion
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (MNTV) — The Fauji Foundation, a conglomerate based in Rawalpindi, launched a cloud and artificial intelligence platform designed to meet growing demand for secure, locally hosted digital storage and computing, particularly for government and enterprise users.
The platform, branded Sky47 Cloud and AI, was inaugurated by Fauji Foundation Chairman retired Lt. Gen. Anwar Ali Hyder, with organizers describing it as Pakistan’s largest cloud and AI infrastructure currently in operation.
Officials said the facility includes more than 3,000 racks with a power capacity of up to 50 megawatts and has been built to handle high-density artificial intelligence and machine learning workloads, including systems equipped with liquid-cooling technology.
Speaking at the launch, Hyder said digital infrastructure has become central to national development and stressed the need for resilient platforms to strengthen Pakistan’s economic and technological independence.
According to officials, Sky47 offers scalable “sovereign cloud” infrastructure for enterprises and hyperscalers, with a modular design that allows for future expansion.
The platform is aimed at providing enterprise-grade, locally hosted services that enable businesses, government institutions and innovators to deploy mission-critical workloads in Pakistan while meeting international standards for security, reliability and compliance.
Sky47 has been established as a separate department, with infrastructure engineered for high-density cloud environments and AI-ready computing capacity.
The platform is designed to support advanced digital workloads across sectors including finance, telecommunications, government services, healthcare and AI-driven industries.
Sky47 Chief Executive Officer Hassan Abbas said the platform addresses a national need for locally hosted, enterprise-grade cloud and AI services and was built with a long-term vision to serve as a foundational layer for Pakistan’s digital economy.
