Illinois Republican Mary Miller, speaking at a rally alongside former president Donald Trump, called the Supreme Court’s decision on Friday to overturn Roe v. Wade a “victory for white life.”
Miller is running for reelection in the state’s newly redrawn 15th Congressional district against Republican Rodney Davis in Tuesday’s primary.
She thanked Trump “on behalf of all the MAGA patriots in America” drawing cheers from the crowd.
Trump invited Miller on stage to speak at the rally in Mendon, Illinois aimed at turning out the vote for Tuesday’s primary.
Miller’s spokesperson said she had intended to say the decision was a victory for a “right to life.”
Isaiah Wartman told the Associated Press it was “a mix-up of words.”
