Canada welcomes Israel-Lebanon ceasefire, urges full implementation

OTTAWA, Canada (MNTV) – Canada has welcomed the announcement of a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, with Foreign Minister Anita Anand describing it as “an important step towards de-escalation” and urging all parties to fully respect and implement the agreement to prevent further loss of life.
“Canada reaffirms our strong support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and state institutions,” Anand wrote on X, reiterating Ottawa’s position on the disarmament of Hezbollah in line with UN Resolution 1701.
“We stand in solidarity with civilians who continue to bear the consequences of a conflict they did not choose.”
President Trump announced Thursday that Israel and Lebanon had agreed to a 10-day ceasefire beginning at 5 p.m. EST, following U.S.-mediated talks between Lebanese and Israeli delegations at the State Department in Washington on Tuesday.
