Bangladesh hosts AI summit to drive digital shift
Event at BRAC University to explore AI’s role in governance, industry, education, and ethical development across key sectors
DHAKA, Bangladesh (MNTV) — Bangladesh will host a national artificial intelligence (AI) summit on May 8 as part of its broader ambition to become a digitally advanced economy.
The event, to be held at BRAC University, a leading private research institution in Dhaka, is expected to gather local and international experts to explore how AI can drive innovation in governance, business, and society.
The summit is organized under the umbrella of the Bangladesh Innovation Conclave and aims to build momentum around AI integration across sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, and finance.
According to the organizers, the event will also focus on shaping national AI strategy and strengthening the country’s talent pipeline in emerging technologies.
The conference agenda includes keynote speeches, panel discussions, technical insight sessions, and case studies. In addition, breakout discussions will allow deeper engagement with sector-specific challenges and opportunities related to AI adoption.
Prominent themes expected to dominate the summit include the global shift in AI and its implications for emerging economies, the ethical development of AI systems, and how technology can be used to improve healthcare access and agricultural productivity.
Organizers said sessions will also address the contrast between AI hype and actual application in the local context.
Senior government officials, including the ICT Division Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission Chairman Emdad ul Bari, are scheduled to attend and speak during the event.
An AI Hackathon, held in parallel with the summit, will culminate in an award ceremony recognizing innovative solutions developed by young technologists and students to address real-world challenges.
The summit marks a growing emphasis on digital transformation in Bangladesh, where authorities are seeking to modernize services, improve governance, and expand economic opportunity through the use of emerging technologies.
Organizers emphasize that inclusive and ethical AI adoption will be central to these efforts.
