Armenian premier rules out unilateral land swap with Azerbaijan
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said no decisions have been made regarding disputed enclaves with Azerbaijan
YEREVAN, Armenia (MNTV) — Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said no decisions have been made regarding disputed enclaves with Azerbaijan, stressing that any resolution must uphold Armenia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Speaking to journalists, Pashinyan emphasized that no Armenian official has the authority to cede sovereign land — a position he also reiterated online.
He said the issue of enclaves should be resolved through a formal delimitation process grounded in the Almaty Declaration, Caliber.Az reported, citing Armenian media.
“We are obliged to adhere to our written commitments, and I rule out any forceful scenario,” he said.
He added that all possible options will be considered only after delimitation is completed.
Pashinyan acknowledged discussions around alternative approaches to Artsvashen (Bashkend) but said public consent remains essential.
“No one can pursue any scenario without considering the will of the Armenian people. Even if a referendum is not held, the people’s consent is indispensable,” he said.
