Algeria, Mauritania plan cooperation in medical supply and organ transplant sectors
High-level meetings focus on pharmaceutical reserves, immunotherapy drug provision, and knowledge exchange
ALGIERS, Algeria (MNTV) — Senior Algerian and Mauritanian health officials met at the headquarters of Algeria’s Ministry of Health to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of pharmaceuticals and organ transplantation.
The meeting was attended by Hadj Maati, Chief of Staff to the Algerian Minister of Health; Hamahallah El Sheikh, Director General of the Center for the Purchase of Medicines and Medical Supplies; and Abdellatif Sidi Ali, President of the National Council for Donation, Transplantation and Culture of Organs and Human Tissues.
Also present were the Directors of the Central Hospital Pharmacy and the National Organ Transplant Agency in Algeria.
The discussions focused on establishing mechanisms to promote collaboration between Algeria and Mauritania in medical supply and organ transplant services.
Both sides welcomed the progress made so far and emphasized their shared commitment to deepening constructive cooperation in these critical health sectors.
As part of the visit, the delegation held a meeting with the management of INPHA-MÉDIS in Annaba to evaluate the national supply of immunotherapy drugs for kidney transplant patients.
The parties agreed on a plan to maintain strategic reserves and ensure timely delivery of future consignments.
Additional meetings were organized between representatives of Algeria’s central medical procurement entities, the national organ transplant authority, and the National Council for Organ Donation and Transplantation.
The sessions concluded with the finalization of a bilateral cooperation agreement focused on strengthening collaboration in the health sector.
The agreement covers the exchange of expertise, joint medical initiatives, and the provision of essential medicines, including immunosuppressants for transplant recipients and treatments for rare genetic conditions.
